How do the cooled cup holders in the Dodge avenger work?

September 10, 2010

I’d like to get some and mount them in my truck, and I’m just curious as to how they cool the drinks inside. I know they’re also heated, but that part’s pretty simple.
Okay, I get that you place the drink in it, and it cools it, smartass. I want to know how it really does the cooling.

The air conditioner cools the drinks in the chill zone. That is built into the glove box.
The cup holder is an option in the centre console that will maintain a hot cup of coffee, or a cold pop tin or bottle. If it the cup holder you want, you would have to buy the whole console.
You are better to buy something like this if you aren’t planning on buying a new car.
