My husband got sued in 2006 for a car accident he caused. His insurance at that time settled in court. He has since switched insurance company. Now he’s being sued again by the same people. So, which insurance company covers him now? His ancient insurance company or his new one?
The parents sued my husband. Now it’s their daughter.

The insurance he had when the accident occurred is the one that will cover him.(his old insurance)……………….md
the insurance that was in effect at the time/they got no case /2 years is all you got to pursue it/get ahold of old insurance co
um – if they sued and settled….and signed a release – They can’t come back for the same thing. So, is this something else?
But – in regards to your question: The original company would provide the coverage….provided conditions have been met and there is still coverage available under the policy limits.
Good luck
Well, if he signed the document the insurance company normally send to the person who’s claim is being paid, the insurance company may be off the hook….It normally states that “this claim has been paid out, and you are agreeing that XYZ insurance will not be accountable for anything above this $XXXX amount and you are satisified with the repairs and compensations…”
but he may want to contact his insurance company from then, and let them know, they will probably deny it and he may have to try to sue his insurance company.
If the daughter was the injured party and was a minor at the time, the parents would have signed a release (releasing the insurance company and your husband) on her behalf.
Auto insurance coverage is all about who was covering you on the date of loss. The bad news is statute of limitations does not apply to minors in the same way it does to adults, but then there’s that release, that would have to have been signed if your insurance company paid.
Contact the insurance company at the time of loss.
It’s a complicated question with a lot of “what if’s” but which insurance company is involved is based 100% of the time on what date the damages were caused.
Good post! I Googled around for this… I located your site!Anyway, would you care if I posted a return link from my blog site to your web site?
I was just talking with my friend about this the other day at the resturant. Don’t know how we landed on the topic actually , they brought it up. I do recall eating a excellent fruit salad with cranberries on it. I digress…
